  • Tapeworm treatment required for dogs returning to UK (within 1–5 days of re-entry)
  • Pet stays in vehicle for entire 35-minute crossing

Post-Brexit pet travel — what changed

UK pets can no longer use the old EU pet passport (issued before 2021). For UK to EU travel, you need an AHC (Animal Health Certificate) issued by a licensed vet within 10 days of travel. This must be done before each trip. For dogs returning to the UK, a tapeworm treatment from a vet is required 1–5 days before re-entry. Plan your vet appointment well in advance — particularly in summer when vet appointments can be limited.

Practical tips: Exercise your pet before boarding. Ensure ventilation and water are available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Motorhome prices on Le Shuttle depend on height and length. If your motorhome is under 1.85m height, standard car fares apply (from £59 Day Trip to £310 FlexiPlus). If over 1.85m, you'll be placed in a specialist over-height carriage and pay a higher fare — typically from £149–£249 each way for a shorter motorhome, up to £421+ for very long vehicles. You must declare your exact height and length at booking. Book well in advance as specialist carriage slots are limited.
