Post-Brexit pet travel — what changed
UK pets can no longer use the old EU pet passport (issued before 2021). For UK to EU travel, you need an AHC (Animal Health Certificate) issued by a licensed vet within 10 days of travel. This must be done before each trip. For dogs returning to the UK, a tapeworm treatment from a vet is required 1–5 days before re-entry. Plan your vet appointment well in advance — particularly in summer when vet appointments can be limited.
Practical tips: Exercise your pet before boarding. Ensure ventilation and water are available.
